As a ministry of the Catholic Archdiocese of Omaha, FOCCUS® Marriage Ministries helps couples strengthen their relationship with each other and with God by fostering open communication, understanding, and prayerful reflection.

Our Story: From a Simple Idea to a Global Ministry

FOCCUS® began in 1985 when three marriage and family therapists saw a need for a better way to prepare couples for marriage — one that encouraged honest, faith-filled conversations instead of one-time lectures.

They created the FOCCUS Pre-Marriage Inventory, a research-based tool designed to “Facilitate Open Couple Communication, Understanding, and Study.” Its purpose was simple: help couples talk about what matters most before they say “I do.”

From that humble beginning, FOCCUS® grew into an international ministry used by over one million couples in more than 30 countries, supported by 8,000+ parishes and organizations.

In 1988, FOCCUS® introduced the REFOCCUS® Marriage Enrichment Inventory, extending its mission to couples at every stage of life. Today, FOCCUS® continues to evolve — developing new resources for military families, first responders, mid-life marriages, and convalidations within the Catholic Church.
